Peace Lily - Dark Water After Watering?
Question: I have a peace lily and I just watered it. The water that leaks through is very very black. I know water is dirty after watering your plant but not this dark. What is wrong with my plant? Looks like someone poured black coffee in it, but we don't drink coffee here so that couldn't be it. thanks for helping me? - Sandra
Judy's Answer: Dear Sandra: The excess water coming out of your plant should definitely not be very black unless you are washing out a lot of your soil along with the excess water. I would suggest that you take the peace lily out of its pot. Throw out the old soil and wash any remaining soil off of the roots of the plant. Repot the peace lily using some good potting soil such as Miracle Gro. Don't try to save a few dollars by buying cheap poor quality soil; it will only harm your plant in the long run.

Hope this solves the problem - Judy
